LONESOME came to me in January:
an impulse, a necessity, a need,
a birthday gift from the other side,
the underside, the underneath.

We are a gathering point,
a fulcrum, a hand that feeds,
what a poet will tell you,
what the old friend sees.

We are wildflowers on the highway
getting lost among the weeds.
What magic have we mustered
from what brought us to our knees?

LONESOME PRESS is an independent imprint focused on poetry, literature, and the arts, founded by Monique Erickson in 2023. LONESOME PRESS elevates the unexpected, amplifying the perspectives of both award winning and emerging poets and artists alike.

LONESOME is our annual printed anthology. The inaugural issue LONESOME Nº1 YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE debuts Spring 2024. A hardcover journal with full-page color images and QR codes linking to interactive media, LONESOME N°1 is comprised of two limited, signed editions of 500: one in black ink, and one in red. This first issue engages a spectrum of voices, including poetry and writing by Bob Holman, Ama Birch, Max Blagg, Penny Arcade, and Tara Betts; art by Mark Manders, Sandra Cinto, Andrea Galvani, David Horvitz, and Elizabeth Jaeger; interviews with designers Maria Cornejo and Maria McManus; music by Melora Creager (of Rasputina and Nirvana), The Chapin Sisters, Jordan Galland (with Sean Lennon on guitar) and more. LONESOME N°1 is edited by Monique Erickson and art directed by Alex Wiederin / Buero New York.

LONESOME TOGETHER is our monthly salon series featuring live performances by poets, musicians, performance artists, and writers from the ever-expanding LONESOME world. These close-knit gatherings emphasize community, as we share our collective passion for the creative arts. To date, LONESOME salons have occurred in New York City at Tibet House, the landmark Jefferson Market branch of the New York Public Library, creekside on the Wappinger Creek in Dutchess County, NY, and in Berkeley and Los Angeles, CA. On the horizon: events in London and Paris Fall 2024.
